Hello-

A good filler for an essay is CASE STUDIES! You can add bulk and volume on anything with case studies. Find a few key phobias... like acrophobia and hydrophobia and google it for patients with Chronic phobia. Add in their personal stories and how they cope. Also add in at least one case study of a nontraditional phobia, such as Xanthophobia- Fear of the color yellow or the word yellow, or some such thing.

Top it off with a personal experience of something that made you even slightly phobic, add character and personality to your paper and make it pop with personal insight. THIS is what teachers look for. Students who are interested in what they are doing. Students who can relate. Plus the fact that you may learn something new about yourself and the world around you!

Good luck and may you get an A PLUS!

How about fear of writing about phobias ? You could call it scriptophobiaphobia. Or you could investigate why it is that we suffer from triskadekaphobia (fear of the number 13). Why are there no 13th floors. What the hell is it about 13 ? 12 Apostles, 12 constellations, 12 months ...
Fear is mediated in the brain by a structure called the amygdala. You could write about this.

Why don't you try to interview someone who has a phobia. You might also find case studies in psychology magazines.

I am terrified of chickens! No joke. I don't know if that gives you any ideas I just stay clear away from them. But watching the movie The whole ten yards kind of made me like them. Good luck with that.
