We are having a dispute about whether or not this quote is correct....others are saying it is vice versa

Greenland is much larger than Iceland, and is mostly ice. Iceland is smaller and is mostly green. It was named that way by the vikings who discovered it so that they could have the nicer area to themselves and everyone else would go to the icey area thinking it was nicer than it is.

I've heard that too. The people who named Iceland wanted to keep people away so they gave it a misleading name. I read that only 11% of the island is glaciers or something like that.

I've never been there, this is just what I've heard.
