I had my thyroid tested and it is fine, so do not suggest getting it tested for thyroid problems.

I always feel mentally and physically tired. I do not sleep on a regular schedual, but I always get enough hours. I am a night owl and cannot seem to break this habbit. Even if I actually go to bed early, I sleep well into the afternoon. I've even slept until 4pm once!

I have tried to make myself get up after 8 hours of sleep, because I heard oversleeping makes you really tired too, but I have a really hard time getting up. I've been known to turn off my alarm clock in my sleep on a regular basis. I've done it so often I've now taped the button down so I have to fight to turn it off, so I might actually get up.

What should I do? Is there anything wrong with me?

Um, I'm 19. I've been a teen for a while. In fact, I'll be 20 relatively soon.

Hello, have you reviewed your diet? it may be as simple as an iron deficiency, which is very common in females. Other than that, there are a lot of variables, you may be best to visit and discuss with your doctor :). Someone above said it may be mild depression, but it could be 100 other things too. Vitamin D deficiency to depression to poor diet. I would suggest visiting your qualified practitioner for a full physical :)

I have the same problem and I am 35! I have never had children so my 'mommy' friends say that having kids will change it. I usually go to bed about 11 pm and can sleep till 11 am. I do take tylenol pm about 8 pm so that I can go to sleep. I have extremely intense insomnia. The tylenol pm probably explains my sleeping late, but I have done this all my life, even before tylenol pm. In my case it may be depression. However the iron deficiency sounds plausible as well. I, too, have had my thyroid checked, normal as well. Real bummer, hoping to blame my weight gain on that. Anyway, just wanted to let you know that you are not alone. Since I work in retail, I can't get a sleep pattern down either. Some days I go in at 6 am off at 2 pm other days I go in at 4 pm and get off at 12 am, hard to regulate sleep with hours like that. Anyway, I will check back in to see if you get any good answers.

Good luck!

IF your Thyroid check out then thats great..... if you are sexually active I would do a pregnancy test. If that isnt positive then if you are overweight then maybe doing some sort of exercise before bed.
Sometime teens just have difficulty sleeping due to a shift in hormones.
Good Luck!
PS: Cut out ALL caffeine and including chocolate!

some people are known to sleep more longer than most people normally do. Infact in my husbands family they normally fall off to sleep the minute they lie down on the pillow and they can sleep for hours at a stretch and as for me it takes a long time turning and tossing on bed so its just but natural and nothing to worry. Try to keep a schedule for sleeping meaning dinner at probably 8 or 8:30 after which a 1-2 gap before you finally go to bed. This helps considerably as just eating and immediately sleeping tend to imbalance our bodies. listen to some nice soft music or read some good books, or you can even go in for a small walk (provided your neighbourhood is safe). keep your mind calm and positive. say your prayers, thank the good lord for the wonderful day and go off to sleep. believe me, you will enjoy a good pleasant sleep and wake up more refreshed and happy. I usually set my alarm on my mobile phone and keep 1-2 reminders so even if i put off the 1st alarm and sleep a bit the 2nd alarm will wake me up..... start you day giving thanks to the lord! Cheers!

it could be mild depression. go to your doctor and ask him/her if that is the problem.
