Already have been 3 times. Every instance took place in the local Safeway grocery store, one block from my condo. One lady thought I was her former Psychology Professor from UCLA, another thought I was her dentist (local I guess), and a guy who worked in the produce department of the store thought I was his church preacher. He has since retired. On a fourth instance, an elderly couple that I went to visit to watch a video with, pointed to the TV screen, and to my surprize a guy on a talk show (don't know which) looked like my double. His voice didn't sound like mine though. So, my conclusion is that we really do have doubles. I believe I have. I think the giveaway--what makes people realize they've made a mistake, is your voice.
The funniest story I ever read about being mistaken for someone else is a Charlie Chaplin story. He said that he once entered a Charlie Chaplin look-alike contest to see whether he would win. He came in third.

How funny you should ask that. Just this evening I had to argue with a woman that I was not someone she knew from her neighborhood. I was finally like "look, lady I don't freaking know you!"

Actually as sad as it sounds, I have had people do a double take cause they thought I was my mom. We look so much alike that somebody once accused her of cloning me.
