we have a christmas party every year and many children attend i want to be fair and get them something they will like but with out breaking the bank

I'd hit the dollar stores. The stuff there might be cheesy to give adults, but there are lots of cheap gifts that would be great for kids.

Crayons and coloring books are always a favourite, fancy pencils with furry things on the ends and stuff like that, stickers, homemade playdoh,etc. If you live near a place like Scholar's Choice (a teacher's store) you could go in there for ideas as well.You have to watch your prices, because sometimes specialty stores like that are a bit more expensive, but they can give you some great ideas.

according to age of course, My kids had more happy hours with balloons than anything.
