If you had the choice, which would you rather be? I've heard a lot of White people say that they'd rather be obese than Black. Is that racist? Is it funny?

Most people would rather be the color and heritage that they are although not all would. No it is not a funny question but a rather juvenile one and yes it is a racist question. I am white and would rather be white as that is what I know so I guess I would rather be white and overweight. If I found that I did not like being overweight I could loose the extra pounds but if I found I did not like being black there would be nothing I could do about it.○

I would rather be black of course. Being fat is a serious health concern, and I happen to think black people are beautiful. Have you SEEN Tyra Banks? And yes, it is racist to be fat rather than black. And NO it's not funny. Hope I helped.

Damn, I'm white and fat. What the hell?

I would have to say that yes it is racist and no it isn't funny because although a black man may be held back in certain situations and may have to fight harder to realize the american dream it is still there for everyone to take advantage of.

I do not brain while individuals use it. We must intelligent up and become aware of that (adore it or no longer) n-igga and ******* are 2 fully distinctive phrases with distinctive meanings. I do not suppose in an effort to ever hppen regardless that for the reason that America as complete could be very wrapped in racial problems in the case of specified races. Within the sub-tradition of hip hop I do not care who makes use of it so long as they're FULLY VESTED IN THE CULTURE. I can guarantee you that in the back of closed doorways and with individuals they're just about Eminem and Paul Wall us the phrase n-igga ALL THE TIME. Of path they could by no means apply it to list for the reason that of America's racial hypocrisy. Here's a well query: Why is it OK to call a Pro Football Team the "Redskins"? and have you ever obvious the Cleveland Indians emblem in recent years? It simply extra of the identical hypocrisy.

It's not funny. It's sad, because it reflects how much racism there is in our country. I would rather be a healthy member of any race or culture than be unhealthy. Obesity is a health problem, uncomfortable and a struggle. Being a minority in a prejudiced culture is uncomfortable and a struggle, too, but if you have your health, you have the best chance to deal with it.

assuming your question is honest, I'll give an honest answer in two parts.

1) assuming that this is about changing from who I am now, then I am both white and not my ideal weight. Being another race is totally foreign to me, so I would have to stick with what I know and say fat... to a point. If we're talking so fat I gotta wear a tent, then I'd rather be black.

2) assuming I'm negotiating with God before being born, all other things being equal, I'd rather be black.

Black for sure. Obesity is unhealthy & unattractive, really. How can you even compare the two? It comes across as if you are trying to stir racist responses, very definitely not funny.
I used to explain it to my students this way-God gives each of us our own special color. Who you are on the inside and what you make of yourself is your gift back. But basically, we share the same needs as humans- to be loved, respected, have shelter, relationship with our Creator, etc.
Teaching at a Christian school gave me the freedom to teach a biblical worldview-that we are all inherently valuable because of Who created us.

I would rather be black and believe that dark-skinned people are beautiful. As it is, I guess I will have to stick with being white and fat :0).
