I think you're thinking of the Nanny. For one thing, it was in the 90's, not 80's and also, she was a Nanny not a maid. A Nanny takes care of children while a maid cleans up after them. The women who do both.... They're usually called "Mom" lol

I'm going to go out on a limb...There was a show called 227 that had Jackay (sp?) on it. She wasn't a maid, but the woman who was the maid on the jefferson's starred in it.
