Who's version is better? Johnny Cash or Nine Inch Nails, and why do you feel this way? Explain.

Johnny Cash. He sings it with all his heart and soul and it has meaning to the lyrics. He was - and is - a legend and one of the all-time greats. If Johnny Cash was still alive, these other characters wouldn't be fit to work as his roadies. You can't fairly compare the two in the same sentence - there is no comparison.

I haven't heard 9 inch nails version, but i ahve heard part of johnny cashs version and I KNOW for SURE JOHNNY CASH is better!

It can go either way, NIN wrote the song so you have to give them some points, but Johnny Cash's version sounds way more soulful, its the only country-type song on my playlist, it makes you think a lot more than the NIN version, his haunting voice just makes you cringe, you feel for him

NIN is way better, plus it is the original. Johnny Cash just covered it. Hurt is about Trent's struggles through Heroine addiction. Plus I've heard it live and it was amazing.

johnny cash. he put so much feeling into that song. and i believe he was the first out of these two to sing it. the original's best. johnny cash is a legend and no one can/could compete with him.
