It is traditionally about the birth of Jesus Christ who came as a baby human to save us from our sin. Do we celebrate His birth appropriately? What do you think? What has Christmas become in your opinion? What does it mean to you?

I'm not religious so celebrate christmas with my friends and family. Want to do something in the spirit of the holiday? Take some food over to the homeless shelter or help out there for a day or two. Find some way to help others. Jesus, if he existed, could not possibly have been born in December so it isn't really right to demand that people treat what was a holiday long before christianity as being the sole property of christians.

To me christmas is about family. It is often the one time each year when all of my extended family come together to spend some nice quality family time with eachother. We are not at all religious and so don't really celebrate christmas in the traditional way, but I still think it is a very important time of year.

Unfortunately the other side of what christmas has become is a huge commercial fiasco. This is the side of christmas I could do without. In my family we try and steer clear of getting too involved in the materialism of christmas. We do still exchange gifts, but hopefully we put more thought into what we buy for eachother than how much the gift costs.

You know what drives me bonkers this time of year? People who insist that Christmas just "isn't about Christ anymore!" To make a long story short, Christmas was originally a pagan holiday called Winter Solstice that had nothing to do Jesus. In fact, it was more of a drunken orgy than anything. You don't believe me, do some research. From viable sources, not the bible. Leave my pagan holiday alone.
