OK, this really is a guess, but it sounds like carpal tunnel syndrome. People usually get it when they have a job that is repetitious. I have the same thing in my right wrist. Does it ache all the way up to your elbow off and on? I'm on a keyboard for most of the day and mine too came on suddenly. I had this pain, and ache that drove me crazy because it was constant. I went to the dreaded Dr. you speak of and that's what it was. Good luck, and I won't tell you to go to the Dr. because you already know that.

Could be carpal tunnel syndrome. Do you do something repetitive with that hand? Doesn't have to be strenuous just something you repeat over and over again.
Is there any swelling? Redness? That might be an indication of arthritis (You don't have to be old to get it)
Could be sore from something you did unknowingly. Doesn't necessarily have to be something traumatic like falling or twisting.
How bad is the pain ? Does it only hurt when you twist it a certain way? does it ache...does it feel like stabbing. Have you tried a heating pad or ice to see if it helps? Have you taken any over the counter pain medicine like Advil? If so, did that help? There are a million things to consider. And you really wont get an exact diagnosis here. If the pain persists or gets worse. See your Doc.
An orthopedic doctor might be more helpful. (Bone Doc).
Do a search on your symptoms. See what you come up with.

There could many reasons for the pain...your age? I was 27 when I was diagnosed with arthritis...It could be that you slept on it wrong and have a pinched nerve or something, it could also be carpal tunnel....I hate to be in pain and ya always wonder about the aches and pains. I know you already said you are going to see the doc tomorrow, hopefully he can help. In the meantime, try a heating pad or Ben Gay or some sort of heat rub, it should help.

arthritis? inflammation of the joints can be very painful. do you do a repetative movement with your hands? type for long periods of time at work? hold your hand a certain way for a long period of time? basically, what activities have you done that may have contributed to this pain? play sports?

take some aspirin. it can't hurt.

Glucosamine is also used for joint pain. Its over the counter and usually found in the supplemental section of the pharmacy or grocery store.

I'm 50, and whilst that occurs my wellness guide has me take Ibuprofen (my prescription discomfort killer would possibly not even paintings purpose it is yet another variety of discomfort) & practice progesterone cream (in yet another spot at any time when) from the wellness meals retailer as soon as an afternoon till my float stops. The ibuprofen stops the discomfort, the progesterone fixes the situation for the following time round, for me no less than.

Sounds like carpel tunnel syndrome to me. Quit moving it around. Take Tylenol. Ice it for ten minutes or. Good luck at the doctor's.

Ok. I know what is it, really. It's called athlets wrist. You actually were born with it. And it is irriated by doing any movment with your hand like you demonstrated in your question above. Going to the doctor is necessary but what is more necessary to know that there is no remedy for it except bandage.

go to the doctor! you can't trust people who you can't actually see! this is for little fluff questions that people get points for answering. the person you should be seeing is a professional who has enough knowledge to make money and not sit at a computer.

Tendonitous or tenosynovitous. Either could be caused by over usage or (more likely for your age) disease or infection process.
