My office gets way too hot compared to other offices in the same building. Yhe heating duct is an industrial type with a small hole in the middle of a 2 X 2 grid, and 4 screws on each corner that seem to rotate the directional flow of the air.

Is there a way to close off the air or to minimize the air flow? Even with a flashlight I can't well see into the air duct overhear.

You probably don't want to get into tampering with company property...but there are sheets of magnets that you can buy online that should do the job. All you do is stick it up over the duct, and walla, you have instant relief. They block the flow of air. if your anything like me, you would prefer to be cold than too hot!

There should be a manual valve in the duct which you can control the amount of air flow to your office, but it is way in the ceiling some where which you will have to look for it. It has a silver rod that looks bent. However, you did not mention if you have a thermostat which could be adjusted so you won't be so hot in your office. What ever the they type of thermostat is at your office will tell you what kind of contol valve you have in the ducts that maintain the temperature in your office. There are electric or air pressure type of thermostats out there. What type of ceiling do you have. Those white 2'x4' ceiling tiles or solid drywall type of ceiling that have a hatch door in the ceiling somewhere which will requrie to crawl into ceiling. If you do crawl into the ceiling, crawl on sturdy plat forms like beams. You can fall through ceiling and really hurt yourself. For your safety, you should call a building maintance guy who should be able to fix your problem unless you want to get dirty.
