no.no.no. not at all it can be off thats what its for so you can have itoff it will still record.

The TV doesn't have to be on and the TiVo never stops recording. The TiVo doesn't have an off button.

No, that's part of the point. To record shows when you're away. Just make sure your TIVO is on.

Good Idea : well if you has an vedio tape installed first before that tape recorder gets turned on then yourself can push play
& recod at the same time while watching T.V program only

no it will record wether your tv is on or not. if you have it set to record 2 things at the same time, it will change the channel for you to what is being recorded.
