We get it hammered into us that we are nothing without the woman, so when she steps out, she really violates tha trust

A wife usually has more to lose from the break-up of a relationship. Usually the man earns more, and her standard of living will drop more, especially if she has children. If she is still living in their joint home, and being treated well, then he is still performing on his end of most of the marital bargain. She has more incentive to forgive.

A husband has much less to lose if a relationship with an unfaithful wife ends. It is almost never actually cheaper to keep her anymore. Child support is much less than what most men contribute to the support of a family they live with. He may not even be losing his own children.

He is suddenly faced with the possibility that he may foolishly work all of his life to feed and raise another man's child, or that he may already be doing so. Is she actually performing her end of the marital bargain? is she exclusively breeding his children? It is a wise child who knows his father, while a woman may never find herself duped into raising the product of adultery. The only basis a man has to know that his family is his, and therefore worth his life effort, is his trust in the fidelity of his wife. Adultery obviously puts a serious dent in that.

I think it is because men think with the logical part of their brain and sometimes, no most times forget to use their emotional brain. Logic says it is wrong to cheat. Therefore there should be no negotiation or 2nd chances. Women tend to be more emotional and figure that there was a reason that the cheating happened and try to get to the bottom of it and fix it. Men just see the black and white. Ironically this is what brings men and women together, that balance of emotion and logic. I hope I helped.

I am not exactly sure on this one----i think men have more of an ego in the way and they dont want their reputation hurt or people to know that they took back a woman who cheated on them and used them----they still think men rule and no woman will treat them like this and get to stay with them----women are more emotionally hurt when they are cheated on---i think that the betrayal hurts them more since their egos are not as involved.

Generally, and I mean in the broadest terms, men don't normally invest as much emotion in the "side project". Where as if a girl cheats, then she's probably looking for the "thing" that is missing from her current relationship. Women are just more prone to search for the missing emotions and connections when a relationship starts to stagnate.

If a wife cheats it is not something you want to forgive. I woman needs to stay with her husband as she is the family upholder . A woman seeking love elsewhere when she receives love and support right within her home is not someone people think highly of in society. A man ...well...they say ....he can wander because ...well he has more pressure in life...more responsibility...more of a need to climb the corporate ladder , them he has more a need to have afew hours of relaxation etc....Look at the movie stars...they go to strip bars and get a porno star and do drugs and drink heavily and then go home to their wives etc with no real problems...i.e Ben Affleck, Keith Urban etc.....married to nice women and still look for porno stars!!!
Let a women look for a man in a bar and get drunk etc....she might come home to an empty house and no money in the future and sadness forever!!!
Just the way things are..

I don't think it is that we are less forgiving. I mean it is all about personal choice. Don't go generalizing a whole group of people. The man you cheated on obviously doesn't forgive cheaters, nor should he.

Maybe because it makes them less of a man. It is a slap on their face if the wife cheats. They say that men are born to be polygamous but it doesnt apply to women

I believe women are less forgiving, i am that way. Its a two way street if cheating. Both wouldnt trust each other, got to gain trust back, gonna be awhile.

We don't have anything to support this but, by nature, all male mammals are defensive over their female mates. This is especially true with humans. Their defensiveness increases once a bond is created through love and/or marriage, So it's just natural. Joey
P.S. We're territorial too.

Its a "macho" thing, many guys think that they are the only ones who can truly "satisfy", their woman, and with that alone, they should have no reason to stray. But they are wrong, and its an even bigger blow to their ego, if the woman cheats with another woman.
