I just recently lost my virginity and it hurt when he put it in, but during the intercourse it was less painful, but it still hurt a little. Is this a bad sign? I've always thought sex should be pleasurable more than painful...

The first few times can hurt quite badly. It depends on the woman. Some don't hurt at all, and some hurt quite a bit. It's easier if you use a personal lubricant, and if he goes slowly to begin with. For some woman it hurts the first time and sometimes they have light spotting of blood, for others it doesn't hurt at all.
For me, it didn't hurt my first time, it felt very good but I think that was because I stretched out my hymen by masturbating since the age of 12 (I'm 18 now and I lost my virginity when I was 18 also, back in June).

You will stretch. A baby comes out of there. Just be patient. Always block all thoughts from your mind except how it feels. Have your boyfriend take a little extra time on foreplay to make sure you are adequately lubricated. It will get better, I promise.
BTW, I prefer being on top to start. i have an orgasm quicker when I am on top. Once I get the first one, others come easier.

im sure your fine, sex is rarely pleasurable the first time, especially if its the guys first time too.. guys that are young are ackward, they just are...
if it hurts, have him go slow... or ( donttrip on my saying this) get a 'adult toy', so you can learn exactly what needs to gowhere, if you catch my drift? that way, youll get streched out a bit more..
