I heard that your gyno can cut it. Is it true?

I agree with the previous answers, but would add this: you can also have your gynecologist do this for you if you are a virgin who is nervous about pain during your "first time". Some women have this done before their wedding day, in order to make things easier on the honeymoon. They are still technically virgins; they just have a bit of an easier time of it to look forward to. The doctor usually uses a local anesthetic, so the procedure is painless.

Some people have the problem that their hymen actually blocks the entrance to their vagina partially or totally, so that they can't use tampons or have sex because the opening is too small. Sometimes the hymen is too tough to break during normal sexual activity. The gynecologist can cut it to make the opening bigger.

Yes, it happens if the hymen is to thick and lacks a natural opening or if emergency surgery is needed in that area.
