I am claustrophobic, and on looooooong drives (like up to Michigan and back) I get very moody and sick. At one point I felt suicidal.

Take some Dramamine or other motion sickness med, and take the max dose. Sit by the passenger-side window, and bring a pillow so you can sleep. If you stay up really late the nite b4, you may well be able to sleep right thru the trip, especially with the medication. If you like, check out a book-on-tape from the library and zone out on that. Concentrate on the scenery, look for expensive model cars, make up little stories about (or even keep a running mental tally of the hot-looking folks in) the other vehicles. Most importantly, keep a positive attitude and remember that at the end, you will be seeing people and places you love.

Take breaks. Open the window a little. Sleep. Sit in the front for a while. Get deep into a conversation to get your mind off of the claustrophobia
