London to Chicago is a popular route. You can get really neat prices.
Tips: to keep your prices low, choose the exact day of the holiday (example, Dec. 25th) instead of two days before or two days after. Those are the most popular, heavy traffic days. Even the last minute deals are not good in these dates.
Choose 1 stop enroute instead of direct flights, if you can afford the time. Return flighs can also be 1 stop enroute to further reduce your price.
Choose off peak periods. Check with your airline what they call 'peak period'. It varies. Usually for most airlines peak period starts Dec. 19th and ends mid Jan.
