I'm doing a physical science project, and the topic is what heats up faster, sand or soil?
I did the experiment, and got the data, which is sand heats up faster, but I need "background/history information to support my project" in my report.

...what does that mean and where do you find something like that?
and plz if you know anything like that then give me the background/history information.

You need to look in a chem book, find the composition of sand (mostly silcate, used to make glass) and find typical components of the soil you used. Each component will have a different boiling point or rate at which it heats.....

background information usually comes in the form of discussing the theories about heat transfer, what is heat, thermodynamics etc... you could find some information on the web like wikipedia or different scientific journals. goodluck...
