you guys need to read his question again
he wants to put the 4.3L in place of the 2.8L
he just needs the asto van mounts and brackets, thats all
very simple
he already has what he needs
he will have ot deal with exhaust issues though and have to swap the tranny too
he will have to get the B&M tranny swap brackets in order to bolt the van tranny into the car, because the tailshaft housing on the van tranny will not allow the torque arm under the bird to bolt up to it
82-up firebirds and camaros
70 dollar kit
summit carries the brackets,
the van should be a 700r4,
he will already have the right driveshaft if its an 84-up car, or a 5 speed one, the shorter driveshaft they used under these cars,
length is the issue
82 and 83 f body auto tranny were 3" shorter and was a longer driveshaft
the tranny behind the 2.8 wont bolt to the 4.3 engine, the 2.8 is 60 degree bellhouisng pattern and the 4.3 is 90
happy swapping

Yes it can be done. A 4.3 is basically a small block chevy without two cylinders. Also easy to put a 350 in that astro van using most of the 4.3 mounts and accessories. You may want to double check by measuring from the back of the engine block to the engine mount bolts on that 4.3 and find a chevy V-8 and measure it as well. The mounts for the V-8 for that car should bolt everything right into place. You will however need a different transmission, as the 2.8 is what they call a 60 degree V-6, meaning the angle of the cylinders is only 60 degrees where 4.3 and small block chevys are 90 degree V-6 and V-8. A lot of parts interchange between the 4.3 and 305's and 350's. So you will need a transmission with the right bell housing for the 4.3 in the Firebird. Other than that, everything should bolt right up. The hardest part should only be figuring out your wiring. You'll probably need the computer and the engine bay harness from the van. If you run into problems email me or buzz me on messenger. Edit- looks like some peoples answered while I was typing. guess if your tryin to answer questions on here dont get into a good movie. :P anywhos buzz me on messenger if you run into problems

if they don't make the motor mounts you can make your own out of half inch steel plate like they do for mopar conversions such as a 440 in a duster.
