I've been on a jury that had to sentence a man to death.
He basically asks if you've reached a decision on sentencing and in Pennsylvania whether there are any aggravating or mitigating circumstances.
As the elected foreman, I got to read the verdit and the circumstances.
The judge basically tells the court to enter it into the record. If I recall, I think we were asked if it was unanimous. That was 16 years ago.
I'm not exactly sure what he said to the defendant.
I think the guy appealed because many years later, I got a form from federal court, Habeas Corpus Division, asking my race.

In the case of the murder of my brother, the Judge said they deserved the sentence & prononunced them to die by lethal injection.
