Hi. A friend of mine just got a new keyboard from Wal-mart for less than 10 dollars. That is what I will do when I need to. They have good mouses there, too. I have a gateway, too.:)

any mouse keyboard will pretty much do.
Every computer have either a ps/2 or a usb port so youre looking to spend about less than 20 bucks for both of em together.
Just go into any computer store and ask for the most inexpensive ones they got.
You could go online, the prices are cheper but its the shipping that would be almost as much as the stuff youre trying to buy
P.S. as far as the mouse infrared.
Yeah they might require the less maintenance but when something gos wrong with your infrared light beam than its time to get a new mouse.
Whereas that old standard balled mouse keeps going and going and going and going.

These days, there's not really a HUGE difference in quality...so really choose based off your individual style and comfort as far as your personal use. I do however recommend an infrared mouse, rather than a trackball (the kind with the ball in the bottom) as they typically require less maintenance.

Logitech is always the best for external PC hardware. However, since your on a budget I would check amazon and ebay for lower rates on brand name objects.

Logitech builds pretty good stuff. Labtech industrial keyboards are pretty good. Microsoft also has them.
