"Better to keep your mouth closed and be thought a fool than to open it and remove all doubt"...figured I'd throw that out there, knowing someone would say that as an answer.

Quite a bit, in many different ways I suppose. People think I'm a 'quiet' person, but it's got a lot more to do with my thought process rather than any sort of shyness. I choose to be quiet. If I have something to say, I'll say it.

A lot. You can be a completely different person than what someone thinks unless you give them a reason to think otherwise. People generally think a quiet person is either snobbish or mysterious, and they may only be shy.

Proverbs says:
Even a fool is considered wise if he keeps his mouth shut (or something like that!!)
But..someone who really knows you..can read your silence!

Yes that is true and it's best to be quiet about some things. At times saying to much is the wrong thing.

It's a fine line, say nothing and it is assumed you are a dullard with nothing to contribute. Say the wrong thing and your a dumbass.

Only way to find out is to lay it on the line and if you find out you are uninformed at least you know and can work on imporving yourself.

I'm reminded of that Peter Sellers movie...where he played a man mistaken for a genius because he spoke very little---just murmured in agreement and made appropriate facial expressions!!! I cannot remember the name of that movie though.
