It is a good deal, but it will DEFINITELY give you problems. It sounds like a really cool car, but only take it if you have the money and/or knowhow to repair it. The twin turbo is not stock, and the additional boost may be too much for the engine internals. A new/rebuilt engine won't be cheap. Plus the added torque already shredded a transmission with only 61K! My guess is that the next things to go are clutch, differentials, and driveaxles. Plus if the new transmission is stock, it will break again.

Modified cars are hard to sell - this may be why he is offering you a trade. I'd be skeptical though. Your car is probably worth 4-5 grand, and I'm sure he could sell his to somebody for 2-3!

This sounds like BS to me, Why would he want to trade something to lose money then give you more money ontop of it.
If it was upto me I would trade for the eclipse that is worth more then your car now, take the other 2 grand and buy a CRX for around 1200 bucks, Put the eclipse up for sale, 5,500 dollars at least, After you sell the eclipse, take 1000 dollars and buy an LS integra swap. Then take another 450 to 500 and buy a Nitrous kit, then spend another 1000 on a turbo, You will be left with 3,800 if you do the work yourself, a Garage mechanic will do all that work for around 2 grand. But you will have a ten second car. and 1800 in your pocket, you can buy another Civic DX with that.

The eclipse is worth alot more then your car if it isnt ragged out, Was he street racing with it? Does the motor knock or tap at all? At 61,000 miles it seems odd that he already had to replace the transmission, he must have been beating that poor thing, to bad eclipses are junk or I would say keep it, the motor is next to go. Arent those motors famous for crank walk?

If your looking for reliability and fuel mileage keep the honda. Other wise you dont know how your friend treated the machine.

If you want speed, get an integra swap and a turbo kit, swap it into a CRX that twin turbo eclipse will look like a snail.

You better run a carfax on the VIN or something because this deal doesn't seem right. A 98 Eclipse TT is worth far more than just 2k more than a 93 civic unless there is something seriously wrong with it.

It sounds like a good deal if the eclipse is in good condition. The bad part is that your insurance will be more expensive (and even more if it is a coupe). If you decide to take the deal you will probably get many more miles on the eclipse. Eclipses are good cars, and you shouldn't have any problems.

i think, but again this is my opinon, you should definetly do it . The eclipse twin turbo is 40 times fater than the civic dx and especially if the eclipse only has 73000 miles on it ... it would be a great deal and you would recive a nicer and faster car , my cousin has an eclipse and they are very reliable and has caused him no trouble. i think that you should do the trade

Many Japanese sport compacts died out because they competed with Honda and lost, the eclipse should have been one of them. I have pulled away from a late 90's turbo eclipse that my friend was driving in a v6 taurus...with a passenger. Maybe you should look into a taurus swap J/K.

eclipse is a hell of a car and i love it but your civic is already yours and if you have two grand just sink into your civic and make it better than his eclipse. he wouldnt wnat that trade unless he knew something. im saying keep your car and make it better there is enough stuff out there to pimp your car out. besides the dx series is the best series honda ever put out for speed and driving so keep it.

Take the money and run.

The Mitsubishi is a very competent car, but (unfortunately) is under-rated by the consumer market, and suffers from low resale value.

You may be making an economically bad choice, but it sounds like his ride is definitely nicer, newer, lower miles, and a better performer.

I'd do it.

I think you should go with the eclipse, it is a lot better looking and is in better condition than yours, it has better street credit than a civic...and its a twin turbo!!!

and that girl above me is f*cking stupid.... why would your friend want to "hook up" a civic when he has an eclipse??? yea that one makes no since to me, and if those are his intentions...then he is f*cking crazy.

well i hope i some what help you, man I can get over how stupid that girl is, she must have a modified civic, god that's gay!
