get every single thing written up----------the pistons could have been warped---and they can "make it work" just don't get blamed on problems later on. keep all the records. that young , why not a new engine? its not the pistons ---it's the aluminum around them ---the engine block, heads, valves----how about another car its a young one, with the problems fixed. your spending a lot of money on this purchase. do you want to be the on t.v.--------- the helicopters are circling on you . because your car broke down in the middle of the highway?

If the engine only has 1600 miles on it NO Service mgr in their right mind would overhaul that engine.....
They would order a service replacement engine with 0 miles on it.... And install that...
What brand of car is this and is the service dept. you are using the same dealer where you bought the car???
If someone finds out that the engine was overhauled at such a low mileage and not replaced would pass on to the next car they were looking at... They can find this out just by getting the Car Fax or going to a Warranty file at another Dealer...
You need to talk with the Service Mgr and voice your concerns then talk to the Sales mgr... If neither agree call the Service Hotline for your car's model and brand and voice your concerns...If its a Ford your out of luck 75% of the time...((( Been there done that)))
Make sure they explain all and every repair on your repair order even if you understand what it is... Then.
Test drive your car on a good trip when you get it back.
The biggest Loss of value was when you drove off the Lot that 1st day.... That is true with any car...
Good Luck...

If u live in US this info would go into a carfax report and if you try to sell the car the buyer will now and assume that the car was fixed and major overhauled depreciating the value greatly. I really like to believe that the car was fixed by the dealer thechnitians and on warranty, but if i were u i change the car or give as a trade in of call a lawyer, cause we are talking a new car here, and you just start to make payments on it , are u willing to take chances? what guarantees you that it would not break again, ? when a car overheating they are suppose to change the aluminum head cause it shoud be bend, how about the water that went into the oil? can u tell us what car is that, brand and year? thanks.

Does the value decrease I don't think so. This sounds like a "warranty replacement" and after they are done it should be as like new. As far as the value goes, years down the road the records will show they redid the engine. No big deal but take it easy at first as to break-in the new engine. Not breaking in a new engine would ultimately bring down the value.

it shouldnt at all the car is under a new manufacture warranty, so, if it was me, down the road not say anything. because it was covered under warranty, when the car is fixed you are still under warranty, just make sure that it has been done right, and just drive the car. There is so much on car value, the thing is that there is so many cars out on the market, the one that really holds any kind of value and I mean real money are rolls royce

sure it could. Overheating can destroy your motor. And if a thermostat is caught closed, that is going to overheat. you will possibly understand that is defective by using the temp gauge. in any different case there is not any thank you to appreciate your vehicle is overheating.

it doesn't affect it at all.warranty repairs means that the veh will be returned to you in as good condition as can be. minus any obvious damage caused by you. scratches, dents, etc. just make absolutely sure the work is done right.
