middle finger or a smile? which would an alien find to be the friendlier gesture?

I think that if they risk coming here...they've studied us and know what both gestures mean. So...the smile...definitely the smile. No one usually likes to be greeted by the middle finger, at least I don't. lol!

what a great question lol. You know a middle finger would be probably interpretted as the friendlier gesture! Maybe as a binary information thing, whereas a smile, especially with teeth showing, could be considered rude and aggressive. (Depends on how long they were monitoring us before they said hello.)
