Nothing is wrong with letting your kids know about Santa Claus. Teach your children about St. Nick. He represents many Christian values that we all should share! It's a good thing!

“Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus. He exists as certainly as love and generosity and devotion exists, and you know that they abound and give to your life its highest beauty and joy.” - YvonneT Charles A. Dana
You're absolutely right, why should kids be grown-up so soon?
Go ahead and let them believe, especially when they're younger, it makes things a lot more fun.
I mean this world is already what it is, if we can still preserve the innocence of such things as the Tooth-Fairy, Easter Bunny, Santa Clause, then by all means, why the H*LL not?!
If you're worried about "lieing" to them, for those parents who think that children should no the truth about everything, there really was a Santa, aka St. Nicholas who really did give presents to children...if they were good. See... a great way to keep your kids behavior in line, "behave or santa won't bring you presents."
Besides, these "characters," including Christ, is based on faith. I believe in Christ, but not because I've seen him, but because I have faith he exists.
What's the harm?
Let them be kids...
Let them have Santa...

Did the last dude say his kids were traumatized when they discovered the truth about Santa? hahahaha! Oh man I wonder if he told his kids to jump off the Brooklyn bridge would they? People teach your kids to LAUGH A LITTLE!
No!!! Santa Clause was actually a Saint. And as far as the church...depending on your religion it's best to actually look at the Holiday from your religious beliefs then to follow a pagan ritual that's where the emphases should be...not to say you can't do both. But children need some creativity in their lives. It's all in FUN! Like I tell my kids the minute you STOP believing is the minute you stop getting gifts haaahahaha! Holidays should be fun and filled with laughter. Santa is a good way to teach kids about giving to others.

I think that those people in your Church are insensitive idiots and I agree a hundred percent with you and your reasons for having Santa! Why is it so hard for those people to imagine that you can have Christ first and foremost as the reason for Christmas and yet still have some fun and fantasy for your children? Isn't the idea of Santa Christlike? Santa is based on Saint Nicholas of the Middle East somewhere who was a Bishop in the Catholic CHRISTIAN Church. He, as well as the modern-day Santa, believed in celebrating the birth of the Messiah and are expressions of the celebration. I think it's sad that those people are so wrapped up in the religious part of the holiday (which comes from the combination of the words "holy day) that they can't celebrate it and chastise those who choose to celebrate the Christ's birth in every way they can while keeping him central to the reason why the celebrate at all. Good for you!

i'm an Atheist with a three 365 days previous son. a guy or woman choose not be non secular to take income of non secular approaches. faith and issues linked with faith do have makes use of. i exploit Santa Claus as a gadget to help coach my son the thank you to regulate his habit. Santa Claus isn't father or mom so there's a distinction from as quickly as I say "Son, be a very good boy or daddy won't get you any provides" as adversarial to "Santa does not carry undesirable boys provides so be good". i'm identifying to purchase the youngster stuff all 365 days long so no massive deal to him if I say daddy won't carry any provides...yet he needs Santa to hold him stuff. So i exploit Santa. that's an significant gadget to help youthful babies elect to be good. and there is yet another excuse...i prefer to verify how clever my son is. I discovered Santa and the tooth fairy have been the two faux while i became into 7 years previous and that skepticism and inquiry helped me to later come to the top that the e book gods did not exist. Christians USE Santa to set their babies up for perception in a e book god... i exploit Santa to set my youngsters as much as at last think of for themselves and not take anybody at their be conscious over some thing's existence. My wager is my youngster will verify Santa is faux by using the time he hits 5 years previous.

Its a rite of passage for kids to believe in and then later find out the truth about Santa. No child was ever traumatized because they find out that Santa is really mom and dad. Celebrate this special time and be thankful that your kids aren't wise beyond their years. They will find out soon enough, let them believe and the magic of the holiday will last longer for you too. Have a merry Christmas.

It's not necessarily right or wrong... It's a choice. If you want your kids to believe in Santa Claus because you want them to be kids, perfectly fine. If someone else wants their kids to not believe in Santa Claus because they feel like they would be lying to them otherwise, fine. Don't let anyone make you feel like you need to change your values, and don't make anyone feel they need to change their values. Just fight for them when they're being challenged and hope to meet an agreement to disagree.

Ignore the nay sayers. They are just a bunch of scrooges. Let your children grow up believing in Santa
Claus for as long as they are willing to accept the
concept. It is the wonderment and awe in their young
innocent eyes that the true miracle of Christmas can be
found. Christmas is good will toward men. It is magic and
miracles wrapped up in one person-Santa. Go ahead and
believe with them. Who will it hurt?
