Really? since when do they hate them? sure there are some reasons but for da most part they are ok.
Pros:
Ipods WONT F uck up ur computer
U can easily download music from limewire for FREE and transfer to itunes to put it on ur ipod
Sound quality pretty good
stylish
More reasons, just cant think of any at moment.
Cons:
Easily broken
Horrible warranty, cuz its a one year warranty, and after that if it gets f ucked up u gotta pay for it so if ur gonna buy one BUY IT FROM COSTCO
Very expensive
U need to buy a case for protection
It can catch a virus
Glitches like it can freeze
Scratches easily.
Battery replacement very pricey (bout 60 dollars i think)
Personal Experience:
I had a first gen ipod minni (sky blue). Right when warrenty expired like a month later the click wheel broke. It was still intanct, but it had lost its touch sensitivity. This greatly discouraged me of using it because it was so much of a hassle.
BOTTOM LINE:Dont be making ur desicion to by an Ipod just because it looks shiny, because it is f ucking fragile so u gotta think hard first and take care of the ipod if u are gonna buy it like it was ur only child...

I have an IRiver, my sister has an Ipod and I've found that the IRiver's easier to use, it's easier to load music into it, especially as if you have a PC and not an Apple you don't have to download any new software, just might have to update windows media. With the Ipod, it's really easy to lose the music you download and you pretty much have to keep all the music in your Ipod on your computer...with the IRiver the music stays on your player until YOU delete it. With the Ipod, you have to basically use the same computer every time you want to load music into it, and with the Iriver, it doesn't matter what computer you use...personally, I have used four different computers and there hasn't been any issues with the songs messing up or anything...and I can delete the music off the computer when I am done loading it into my IRiver.

The costs are about the same I think, IRiver might be a tad cheaper.

The downside to the Iriver, when you play the Iriver the battery tends to die quickly (but again, haven't had a chance to compare the battery life of the two), and it occassionally freezes (though, very easy to reset without any setbacks to the stored information), and it's bulky compared to the thing Ipods...but they are pretty sturdy...mine has fallen several times, got clawed and dragged around by my ferret...

People hate ipods because they are vey sensitive and stop working very easily. For a number of reasons you have to take care of it by updating it, not dropping it, and making sure the battery is always charged, and also because you have to use itunes to work the ipod.
