DON'T PANIC your brakes will work but you may not have ABS on a slippery road so be a bit careful. I bet it is just a sensor and it should not be terribly expensive. you might be able to find and independent shop that can run a diagnostic test and find the exact problem. That would cost less than a dealer.

good luck....

well if your diving a grand am and you have htese lights come on you more than likely have a bad wheel speed sensor just like most of the other grand ams 99-05 that had the abs system.when this system sets a code for the abs it locks out the trac control system and will turn your service vehicle soon lamp on.but if you take it to a shop that has a scan tool that can do the abs diag. then its a pretty simple fix.if they do replace a front wheel speed sensor and the problem is still there than gm had a service bulletin to replace the front wheel speed harness because of corosion and causing to high of resistance in the wires

your abs is most likely the abs sensor has failed in one of the wheels, the trac control does have a fuse, you might want to check that before having the trac control serviced. The abs wheel sensor, your brakes will function just one wheel will not have abs, but it will have normal brake functions. But you still want to have the abs check to see what wheel is non service. This is common on these cars for sure when they have the alum rims on them

The traction control system is a part of the ABS system.
I f you have a bad wheel speed sensor it will also throw a traction control code.
Have the system checked and replace the bad wheel speed sensor,

there is an electronic module that is acting up, you will probably have to take it in to the dealer to get it fixed.
