how can ignorance be justified to someone who takes their family on a freezing cold road trip ?

I live in a very cold state ND. If you don't live in a cold state or are not out in the cold a lot, you just won't know how dangerous cold is.

I'm assuming your talking about the James Kim's family. They had some food. But they lived in California, how much experience did they have with the cold? When ever I go anywhere out of town in the winter I pack a survival kit just in case. I let people know what route I'm taking and when I should get there. Then I call when I do get where I'm going. I know how it can seem warm outside and still kill you.

James waited 7 days, and was running out of food, what would you do with a wife and two kids? After seven days would you wait or go for help?

I would wait but with my kit I could last weeks if needed.

If you're talking about the Kim family, they wouldn't have even been on that road if some jackass hadn't cut the lock on the gate that kept the road locked during the winter.
You should be ashamed of yourself. They just suffered a horrible loss and all you can think to do is mock them.

you don't know what people have when they take a trip, unless your travelling with them., if your talking about the Kim family you should be ashamed of yourself, I think they are going through enough torment without criticism being added to the mix.

If it was a planned trip instead of last minute you may be right. Perhaps they were just focused on the togetherness aspect.
