There's no such thing as a Caucasian hairstyle, it's just a hairstyle. Think about it and use some common sense, if you even have any.

There no such thing as a "Caucasian hairstyle" nor is there as a such thing as "Caucasian features" You sound like a White supremacist that thinks that White people own everything that is considered beautiful or great. We live in America and these women are wearing the styles that are popular right now but I don't think that they want to look Caucasian. There are a lot of Black women that don't wear straight styles like Lauryn Hill, Jill Scott, Alek Wek etc.. What about the White girls who have naturally curly hair? Some Black people have wavy or almost straight hair like people from East Africa: Ethiopian, Somalia, Eritrea etc.. So stop like being racist and eliminate that superiority complex about your race that you have. All people are beautiful in their own way, every woman regardless of race changes herself to look more attractive not just Black women.

I think part of it is because *some* people believe that being dark-skinned is a stigma. There are light skinned black people who make fun of darker skinned black people, on top of racist comments they may have experienced from other racial groups. Some might not want their children to go through that. (I took a Puerto Rican history/sociology course. It was interesting to read that even there, lighter skin and white skin meant it was easier to achieve social and possibly, economical, upward mobility. So, many either didn't want their children to mix with darker skinned PRs, while darker skinned ones tried to get their children to marry lighter [there is even a phrase for marrying lighter], so that they could have light skinned children.) It's like that in many Latin American countries, the Caribbean, and the U.S., etc.

You're kidding, right? There's no such thing as a "caucasian hairstyle". If so...I'd like to see where you pulled that term from. Just because a black woman doesn't have dreads or braids, doesn't mean that she's trying to look like "dark skin caucasians". If a hairstyle looks good, then it just looks good. A hairstyle has nothing to do with color.

What's a caucasian hairstyle?
What about women like Lucy Liu, Ziyi Zhang, and all the other non-black and white actresses?
Don't read too much into something so insignificant, they wear their hair a certain way because they want to.

Let me ask you a question? If they didn't do their hair like that would they get on TV? Maybe you should look to where the root of the problem is? Look at all the models in fashion magazines! White people only use Black people that look white!

"All through American history, the black slaves were taught that in order to be attractive, admired, rich, or be successful in life, your skin and features must resemble the European style. That's why I think alot of these black celebrities have conformed to this kind of style. "
I really hope you don't put much weight in that answer. Because yesterday, the 90's and the 80's were part of American history. I don't recall there being slaves then, nor do I recall there being a message to the black community saying that European is beautiful. Maybe they just LIKE their hair like that. Maybe THEY feel that this particular hairstyle makes them look the best.

it is what Hollywood and people with money want.... the same reason little white kid and black kids running around talking totally different in high school than they did in junior high because it is what is cool and sells at the time
it is only about race because its about the MONEY!!!
if money wasn't involved their would be no race to it

why do white folk want to be black? ex. tans, getting their lips fuller, bigger butts, Cornrows!!!... And no it's not about wanting to look white, nor is any of the styles they wear "white" as you would say. SO you need to go get a life thinking all of these people want to look like white folk, they're just following the fashion. And not saying that they hairstyles are neccessarily "black", but they aren't white either. And how the hell do you catagorize a hairstyle with one race??? Last time I checked, we could all do what WE wanted to OUR hair.

to andamiddleton: I realize that slavery in American finally ended in 1865, but the mind set of some blacks unfortunately hasn't through the generations.
