A thesis statement declares what you believe and what you intend to prove. A good thesis statement makes the difference between a thoughtful research project and a simple retelling of facts.
Therefore, for windmill project, it should be like this:
Natural resources can be usefully exploited to have energy and power. While getting power out of the wind, and using fan blades to be rotated, thereby getting power generation or pumping water, it is also to be pointed out that no exhausts and hence no spoiling of the environment. This project thus brings out the working of a windmill and their basic advantages to society.

Well, the thesis statement is the main thing you want to say about the subject of your essay.
Usually essays involve opinions rather than science topics though.
You might try to say something about what you are trying to achieve with the windmill and what your project will prove?
For example are you looking at windmills as the "future" of windpower or as an interesting technical marvel from the past.
In short, Tell me in a sentence why I want to read your essay.
An example? Mabye your "mildmill" is used for power generation.
While the idea of the windmill has been around for a few centuries, recent technilogical advances and a need for clean renewable sources of energy has brought the windmill back to the modern age. In this essay, I will describe the prototype windmill, I've built and consider some of the innovations that have been followed in recent years in places like Oklahoma.

The windmill has been used throughout history by many cultures for many purposes. The energy windmills produce can be used in many ways, traditionally for grinding grain or spices, pumping water, sawing wood or hammering seeds. Modern wind power machines are used for generating electricity. Windmills have been around for at least 1,300 years. The first windmills had vertical shafts and were reportedly built in Persia around the 7th century AD. Made of six to twelve sails covered in fabric or palm leaves, they were used to grind corn and draw up water. A similar type of vertical shaft windmill can also be found in 13th century China.
You could stress their importance and usefullness throughout history.

What did you discover while making the windmill? What traits of the windmill do you plan to explore in your paper? What type of scientific and social benefits does it have? What are it's future implications? If you answer these four questions, you've written your first paragraph (and a very strong one at that)!!!

A thesis statement is basically a statement of purpose that guides your essay. It tells the what, who, why, and how of your writing. It should be 1-2 concise(specific) sentences. It helps you maintain focus and helps your reader follow your thought process.
