I think it's mostly wrong because it's contributing to the moral depravity of the people who you're watching. Usually when we watch porn, we don't think about the people as people at ALL. We often think things to ourselves about the "characters" that we would NEVER say aloud.

And I think that's when it's starts getting into your conscience talking to you. If you would be ashamed to say aloud what you're thinking or how you're feeling, then that's a problem...

I've done some personal research into this topic and quite frankly there is little empirical research available, or the research has produced conflicting results.

The biggest concern has to do with "addiction" and that is highly controversial. It is asserted that some individuals appear to be susceptible to psychological addiction so strong that they prefer watching porn over having relationships with people. In extreme cases, the "addicted" person descends further and further into complete immersion to the exclusion of work, family, friends - any "normal" lifestyle.

Many studies, however, do not show that such addiction has, in fact, occurred and that when fully investigated, the reference to such behavior is found to be exaggerated or embellished by those that have an anti-porn agenda.

We often hear anecdotal evidence of rapists or child molesters that have been "addicted" to porn and have gotten to a point where they "act out" and commit horrendous crimes. However, behavioral psychologists involved in follow up research have trouble verifying any specific cause-and-effect relationship beyond the fact that "porn was found" or that "access to internet porn" was in evidence.

What it seems to come down to is that those researchers that are convinced pornography has a detrimental effect to the point that it evokes anti-social behavior and criminal acts tend to find evidence to back that assertion up. Those that do not believe that there is necessarily an association between pornography and criminal acts find evidence to support that notion.

Personally, I avoid pornography and find even the "soft" variety to be offensive. So often, the depiction of romantic or sexual acts in the entertainment media has very little - if anything - to do with the plot. It tends to be completely gratuitous and unnecessary. Two fully-clothed people embracing with a pan of the camera to a burning fireplace gets the message across. Anything more than that is simply pandering to prurient interests. And, to those that say, "yes, but sex is real life!", I would counter with, "so is diarhea, but I don't want to see it in a movie."

I have NO problem with it----
Men watch it, even if they lie about it, because we freak out.
(welll, most of us--I understand it).
It is only wrong in these cases:
1-he watches porn to the point of neglecting a real sex life.
2-He watches porn that is illegal, like kiddie porn or violent/snuff films.
3. He expects you to act/look/be like the people in the pornos.

Men are VISUAL creatures....they need that. I would rather have him seeing a porn star than visualizing the PTA leader....
