Go with a computer with a processor that's at least 2 GHz and be sure that it has a PCI Express x16 (preferably 2 for Sli) slot for upgrading your graphics card at a later time. Also be sure that the computer's max RAm is between 2 GB and 4 GB. Other than those basic details any computer will work. I hear that Alienware have some nice choices but I built mine myself from scratch.
BTW don't buy a mac. Although they seem a bit more user friendly they're underpowered and will limit you in the future.

When you are ready to buy a new system, go to www.stupidcheapcomputers.net. I buy all of my stuff from them, and everything is Vista ready.
Microsoft is about to release its latest operating system, Vista, in January. It’s going to make all of these “bargain” computers nothing but JUNK as soon as it’s released. The reason that you are seeing so many cheap systems on the market right now is because a lot of them CAN’T RUN Vista and the merchants are trying to dump them as hard and fast as they can before Vista shows up and everyone learns what a piece of crap they were sold for $500 (or whatever).
Anyway, I bought a complete, new system from stupidcheapcomputers.net with a warranty for LESS than it would cost me to build it myself or order a custom one from the manufacturer. You can use my frequent buyer code: ATX926. That will get an additional 10% discount at checkout.
I have NEVER had any problems with anything that they have sold me and their customer service is outstanding. Those guys blow my mind.
Good luck!

i think of somebody has their wires crossed. Dell = undesirable, HP = stable. Dells at the instant are not undemanding to artwork on and tend to have a lot of dell in undemanding terms areas. they're infamous for not being improve friendly. in actuality, Dell is a stable business enterprise computing device. Off the shelf, in volume. in case you desire a be conscious processing gadget of gadget to maintain inventory archives, circulate Dell. HP is touching directly to an identical, yet extra improve friendly and additionally makes use of greater end factors. My suggestion may well be a stable high quality, HP computing device with a extensive exhibit. you would be analyzing it plenty, being an information superhighway pupil. you in addition to mght do not desire a low funds gadget made with low end areas that could desire to fail and reason you to lose all your artwork which you had saved on your not undemanding disk. I recommend additionally determining to purchase a small, exterior not undemanding force and backing up your data and artwork there besides, because of the fact if something does circulate incorrect.. you do not fall in the back of, you could take your transportable force to the library, in case you're able to. in case you intend on doing any gaming, purchase a table precise with a stable picture card (possibly might desire to purchase it separately and set up it). you could play on a working laptop or computing device, in case you have the photographs became right down to low. while you at the instant are not a gamer, this is fairly as much as you, yet.. i've got very seldom heard of absolutely everyone dropping a table precise computing device. the factor is, what do you intend on doing when you're performed your on line classes? because of the fact the previous poster reported, you probably did not supply many specifics to what you wanted your computing device to do. i might say, that till you're on an honest funds, circulate with an more suitable end, multi-media computing device. It expenditures much less to purchase it now, than to enhance it later. In different words, you would be happier now and for an prolonged time, till now you would be saying "My old computing device is basically too slow" lower back.

It all depends on what you want to do, if you want to do heavy graphic design I would go with a MAC, but a good pc can handle it to.
It just depends on what you want to use it for. The INTEL Duo Core 2 is a very good processor, so if you want purely speed go with that, and then I would get a minimum of 2GB or ram, and a large hard drive.
