I personally am a big supporter of the space program. As for which party supports it more I am going to say Republicans however I am just happy to see a question on the politics forum that I haven't seen before. Good job Alex.

The Democrats of course.
Republicans historically have never supported explorational science well unless there was a tie-in to military uses.
Most cons see exploring the solar system as a waste of money. To suggest the conservatives are progressive on science issues is laughable. Global warming and stem-cell research are prime examples
Trying to teach creationism and "intelligent design" as science is another example.
Most conservatives have a stated contempt for science. (pointy headed libs at M.I.T and Harvard right?)
Progressive democrats have always been at the forefront of supporting explorational science.
I believe (vaguely) Bush has made some inroads in terns of not cutting funding for NASA. Perhaps even raising it. I'll give him credit for that.

John F. Kennedy proposed sending men to the moon and returning them safely back to the earth withen 6 years in 1963. That promise was kept. The Democrats have generally given more support to the space program. There have been massive cuts to the NASA budget during the Bush Administration.

Interesting question. I think it would currently be Republicans. Former President Clinton down-sized NASA big-time.
Put a lot of employees out of work and really hurt entire towns which depended on NASA.
I think Americans in general support the space program.

The Dems don't give it as much lip service, but they generally support it. Republicans praise it and ask for it to do new bigger and bolder things then slash it's budget.
