the honor system doesnt work.

if welfare is paying for that child, you are also going to have to pay welfare back yourself also, in addition to the child support. its that way, so that the state doesnt have to pay for someones responsibility.

yes, child support is separate. disability isnt much, but living on welfare is even less (cant live on welfare, its not enough money to even pay the rent). NO ONE is sponge'n nothing, its owed (and paid back by the parent).

I know this situation. I had to agree to accept the SSI in lieu of child support. Otherwise if she does not agree, you will have to pay. My sons dad is on SS disability, and I got a check every month from S.S. You will have to ask Social Security how to go about this since it will be your benefits. My ex had an attorney.

If you have enough money for a computer and the internet then you ought to be paying something for your child instead of all 3 of you sponging off of different states tax payers. So yeah you should be paying child support!

If you are disabled and unable to work, your child should be entitled to collect off your disability (without reducing your benefit). Call your SS office to start a claim for that child.

SSI is not considered child support, weather or not you will have to pay child support will be decided by the court, but if you do it prob. wont be much, but you should pay for your child anyway.
