Windows 98 will work fine, if it has a network card in it. Buy a router and attach it between your cable or DLS modem and the new computer. Run the install CD that comes with the router. Attach the old computer to the router (it will have several ports) and you are ready to go.

Yeah.
Windows 98 can go online.
You just need to know how to do it.

Install a PCI network card (Ethernet Port) if you don't have 1 build in (Normally the Ethernet Port is located below the PS/2 Mouse and Keyboard jack)

Win98 is not too old, I have several old Win98 systems in my network.

What you need is a router to share the internet connection between 2 (or more) computers. If the computers are close to each other, wired connections are cheap, fast, and secure.

Go read up on routers at Linksys. They have a nice tutorial, and you don't have to buy their routers if you like another brand.

you probable can connect win98 to the cyber web, yet there's a risk for virus & secret agent ware for those OS because that, you aren't from now on receiving abode windows replace anymore. in case you had to connect those wirelessly then you should use instant application of the instant card ( look lower than the record of all courses ) if you're on ethernet connection, if the LAN is configured precise the you'd be in a position to get admission to the cyber web with out delay, if no longer attempt to assign an IP & GATEWAY

If you get a router from your ISP, you can have both PC's sharing one internet account.

Just make sure to configure your Network in Win98 in the Control Panel. You'll need to make sure you see your NIC driver, Client For Microsoft Networks, and TCP/IP.
