Your pop3 and smtp servers are operated by your service provider, so you should be able to find the info on their webpages or in materials you got along with your internet connection. They can sometimes be guessed though, if your ISP is, say, xyz.com, then the servers could be pop3.zyx.com, mail.zyx.com, smtp.zyx.com, or such..

Most internet dial-up services use POP3 mail. (POP means Plain-Old-Phone in these cases.) Generally, your ISP should give you the server name, so your POP3 server address line would be something like: mail.alltel.net
Then there's the ports: the port for incoming mail is 110 for a typical POP3 server. The outgoing SMTP (Simple Mail Transport Protocol) server port will be 25.
Get the name of your mail server, use these ports where specified in your mail client and you should be fine.

The answer to your question all depends on who your isp is or who you are trying to access email through.
Whichever type of protocol they use will be on their support web page, however you totally neglected to even say who you are trying to access email through, so I am not able to help you any further.

Don't panic. Talk to your e-mail provider, they know the server names.

first of all you don't have to yell.
umm I don;t even know what you're trying to do, if its something to do with yahoo mail and you're trying to get it to work on Outlook get yPOPs and read the documentation.
if you're trying to configure Outlook for something else, then I guess you're out of luck with me...
