Some of the large auto parts stores can run a check for you to be certain there are no problems that turned the light on. You might have a sensor going bad and that could leave you stranded at a most inconvenient time.
There might be nothing wrong with it and you will be happily on your way. Sometimes the light comes on to get you back to the dealer for emissions equipment tests.

good luck......

Autozone or most any of the large parts stores will do it. Ask yhem to scan your trouble codes and give you the numbers or maybe they will tell you what they mean. Write them down and bring them back here and perhaps someone can diagnose the problem. Don't change any parts until the problem is found. A reading that says #1 o2 sensor doesn't mean the sensor is bad. DO NOT disconnect the battery, this will clear the codes but they will come right back and turn on the lite again.

This is a list of trouble codes, you can look yours up as soon as you get them scanned

depending on miles it could be a milestone in the bring it back to dealer and gives us money,

I would disconnect battery and let it sit a couple minutes, also I always short the cables out NOT THE BATTERY,, this way it takes care of any voltage left in the computer,
