The FCC rejected a second appeal by CBS to lift the $550,000 fine imposed on its stations for the Janet Jackson breast exposure during the 2004 Super Bowl.
The Federal Communications Commission rejected CBS's claim that the show was not indecent and said the violation was "willful."

Janet's breast popping out, whether intentional or otherwise has had a huge impact on live Television as a medium. With broadcasters now delaying "live" performances by a "few"seconds the scope for insertions, editing and "just-in-time" censorship increases exponentially. In my view the most serious repercussion is the loss of credibility in "live" shows.

TV stations got scared of the horde of people threatening to sue them so they now don't do live broadcasts anymore but delay it by a little bit like a few seconds to be able to cut the image before the over sensitive people see it.
Janet sold more CDs.
We now know she's got her nipple pierced.

I've always believed that she was paid by the FCC to do the "incident" or "wardrobe malfunction" in order to get their (being the FCC) agenda into action. Because of that, commercials and t.v. got more stringent.

No repercussions just just more publicity than anyone has a right to get. It sure alarmed the viewing public. At least the prudes.
I see more skin on TV soaps.

Paparazzi went absolutely crazy for a week or two, and now we're over it.
It was just a flipping accident. Not the end of the world.
