It may be located in the tank and is part of the fuel tank meter assembly.
The tank must be removed from the vehicle in order to service the fuel pump and fuel tank meter assembly.

This link shows a photo of the correct pump. It is supplied with large O-Ring gaskets, which look to me, to be for the rear gas tank.
I would say, it is located inside the gas tank.

i have a 88 olds and mine is in the tank,and yours is probably there too.
