Here's some Mr Kahn told in an interview with Anime News Network:

LIE: ANN: A lot of aspects in your adaptations are changed from the original Japanese version. Some things like dialog, credits and names are changed for obvious reasons, but things such as music are re-done. Why do you feel this is necessary?

Kahn: Only to make it more Western. We westernize it so that children in English-speaking countries will understand it, and to us that is very critical. It's a mixture of the westernization, the trying to make the music appeal to kids who are in the United States.

TRUTH: Okay this is a lie. The real reason 4kids changes music is because that way, they get ASCAP and BMI royalties (unions) each time they play. That gives them a little more money. It has nothing to do with Westernization, it has to do with money.

LIE: ANN: I was actually referring to the uncut releases...[YuGiOh and Shaman King] your thoughts on them?.

Kahn: We do those, at some level, for the anime fan and those things do, you know, reasonably well. The market for them just isn't as large as the one for the cut version.

TRUTH: And this is just a dumb thing to say so I wanted to point that out. I've read several sources that stated the unedited DVDs sold much better than the edited ones, but if anyone can prove me wrong, feel free to do so.

LIE: ANN:Can you shed any light on why Shaman King and Yu-Gi-Oh! uncut were postponed?

Kahn: I think it's because we are still releasing them as cut versions, and we don't want to put the cut versions and the uncut versions at the same time. So we try to stagger the uncut episodes after the cut episodes have aired. So it's just a function of getting those things to play.

ANN:So they aren't competing against each other?

Kahn: Yes, that's exactly right.

TRUTH: Actually, the real reason is because of the split up of FUNimation and 4kids. I don't know the whole story but this editorial by Kevin T. Rodriguez seems to cover it well.

LIE: ANN: Finally, is there anything you'd like to say to the 4Kids nay-sayers in Anime fandom?

Kahn: I think they have to understand that because the price of these acquisitions is so high, that if they want this programming to come to the United States then they're going to have to accept the fact that it's going to be available in two styles. Because the only money that can be made that helps pay for the acquisition is obviously whether or not we're able to outfit it for the masses. And fitting it for the masses requires editing. And if we didn't do that, it'd be very difficult for us to afford to bring it in, just to release it to the anime fan who would be looking for the uncut version. I think we're trying to satisfy both sides of that by having it both ways so that we'll be able to afford them.

TRUTH: Then, Mr. Al Kahn, explain to me why so many other Anime titles have done very well in America without two versions available? Most anime does just fine in other countries as well without editing... Can you explain that? Probably not.

LIE: "Although the series will need to be edited for American broadcast, One Piece-loving otaku don't need to walk the plank: Kalish says [4kids producer] 4kids will be making the minimum amount of changes necessary to air One Piece on American TV.

TRUTH: So skipping 40 some odd episodes, changing a whale to an iceburg, changing guns to super soakers, giving Sanji a lollipop, editing beer to be juice, removing all traces of blood, redoing every sound effect and every music score is the minimum amount of changes?... riiiiiggghhhtt. This guy's next statement is what really burns me up:

LIE: 'There’s no reason for us to change the names just for the change’s sake.'

TRUTH: Should we count the name changes? Zoro to Zolo, Smoker to Chaser, Going Merry to Merry Go (I KNOW I KNOW, in the original the full name is Going Mery-gou, but it's wildy reguarded as the Going Merry more often than Merry-gou), Ace to Trace, Cobra to Nebra, Miss MerryChristmas to Miss Groundhog's day, Miss Goldenweek to Miss April Fool's Day, Ms Doublefinger to Miss New Years Eve, Miss All Sunday to Miss Sunday, Lougetown to Rougetown, and I'm pretty sure they changed much much more. They seem to change every R and L around unable to get it right.

I want everyone to be aware that the english and japanese pokemon episodes and movies are VERY different!!!!!!!
When 4KIDS dubbed pokemon, they re wrote the scripts, they removed any reference to japanese culture, called onigiri donuts, called raman and odon chicken noodle soup, and added so many stupid puns. Not to mention renaming all the people ((exept for harley)) and pokemon.

i understand completly why you hate them.they take teen anime and make them into shows for 5yr old children example1:one piece one of the the most popular anime shows in japan next to naruto bleach etc.another anime they killed yugioh the voice acters suck joey sounds like a new yorker and yami yugi(forgot his real name) sounds like one of the super freinds(or whatever its called) and some other anime shows. 4kids just screws up anime by taking out the blood,profantity taking bits and some times huge pieces of the story line out ,messes up the scripts hires horrible voice acters etc. and yes 4kids is the devil lol

No there don't seem to be, however why do not we begin one. I consider the men and women considering your naive are mistaken in this one. I might reccomend they rent bigger VA's, Tell Eric at the same time he is a well singer, he can simplest make songs for random track movies (While utilizing the usual songs, sound results, and heritage track), however that he can nonetheless voice the badass characters. You can't really blame 4kids... The people who hold the creative rights to the original (unmodified) shows have chosen to sell the broadcast rights to 4kids, with full knowledge that it would be heavily modified for a different market... If you want to blame someone, blame the original creators for being sell outs... I mean, for a bit of $$$, they are letting other people butcher their work...

I like 4kids but there are some things I hate about it.
Because they are not showing mew mew power,
one piece, Shaman King, SonicX.
I really miss those show.
All they are doing is showing these boys shows.
It is bad all really with Kid WB use to be a boy show,
But now 4kids.

ME...4kids tho they can do pokemon again, but pokemon was a kids
show, edit or not, its no differents. BUT BUt one piece was a main stream attraction in Japan, LIk FOOTBALL in usa. Its not a kids show at all. 4kids were juz jealous cuz no american cartoon can even touch this animation!!!!

yes! i no exactly how you feel! 4kids SUCK!!!! They get their hands on one teen anime and butcher it all up!!..... but i heard that they're going to make a 4sight with all uncut animes for older teens but i bet thats never going 2 go through -_-

I want to know just what happened to Tokyo Mew Mew(Mew MEw Power). Why couldn't they just keep it on the air!?! But no. And all their other animes they dubbed. YuGiOh, Omanju Doremi, anything anime they sin their claws into and TOTALLY RUIN IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't think they are really concerned about quality programming, just something that will rake in the bucks
