I've found so many people on this site saying things like 'if it wern't for my country you would all be speaking German'. Point 1 the WW2 was a long time ago, why bring it up like that?? and point 2 a lot of very brave men lost their lives fighting for their country, most of the people making stupid comments have never and will never experience war so what right do they have to say such rubbish?

People keep talking about it because it made such a big impact on the world. So many people from all over the world fought in it. Civilians as well as soldiers were effected. It left Europe in Ruins and changed many many people's lives forever. It was the cloest world-wide tragedy when one looks back, one of few times that the entire world was at war. So everyone talks about it and bring it. People shouldn't say that though, winning the war wasn't by only 1 country, many countries, the entire world had parts in it. Many countries had send in men to help fight the war, yes America helped, so? they aren't the only that contributed to the war effect.

Well, it was an important event and it shouldn't be forgotten.
On the other hand, people shouldn't use it as an insult. For instance, anytime there's a football match between England and Germany you see 'news' papers like The Sun going on about the blitz or something. There was a match in Germany last year and loads of English football 'fans' went around giving the nazi salute.

It was just more than a generation ago, so look at your grandpa and great granpa and ask what he did (on both sides, I know history is only written by the winner).. Yes I agree a lot of good people died on both sides. But also some of the worst crimes against humainity were committed.

Actually I think this is one subject that we should just drop. It's boring.

A LOT of Russians would be upset by what we are all saying. BIG TIME. russia helped win the war, too you know.

The Americans did belatedly HELP win it, that's all. But at the same time, they helped create a divided Europe. So let' s not invite them next time eh.

When there is no one left alive who lived through it or who remembers it. When there is no one left alive whose life or family was changed by it.
When it becomes just another incident in a history book full of incidents.
When no one cares anymore.

Well, it was actually about 40 million soldiers and civilians that lost their lives because of WWII. WWII was a mess and changed the world for everyone...thats probably why people still talk about it. And really, if it weren't for my country, USA, you would all be speaking German! HA HA HA...actually, that is true...BUT, on the other hand, had England stepped in and helped France out from the beginning, WWII may have never happened...or at least not as bad.
