Not intending to sound nasty or offensive - but I would like to share with you something you should consider...,

If you were born in Africa and became a U.S. citizen, then you are an African American or American African - whichever you please. But if you were born here in these United States, you are above all else American.

The, African American label, tends to continue the race division rather than being the glue that brings Martin Luther's dream to bear. Equality and fairness can not come when division festers like an infected sore.

You implied someone referred to you as "You People" - and I don't understand. I know there is still too much racism, even black people referring to me as "you people" (a term I do not use regarding race).

Non the less I am wondering if the party meant, "you people" as in race reference.., or.., "you people" as in paralegal.., or as on someone who has a certain attitude. I have used the phrase in a non-racial way.

It seems too many people are ready to draw on the race card (am not saying you are) at the drop of the hat and read too much into vague expressions and so forth. Please take time to analyze your situation. If in fact the party was being racist - is suing them going to change his or her mind or strengthen their position???

I would dare say, it would only deepen deeply embedded prejudice rather than teach them a lesson. The old' "hit me, and I'll hit you back" type thing that is sewn into human nature.

So what do you do to stop prejudice? Kindness is slow (sometimes painfully slow) but yields longer lasting, more pure results. Slap a someone who calls you a name and see how quick they react and how long the anger lasts.

In the end, its up to you what you want to do. Return an apple for a rotten tomato given you -OR- hand them a sour persimmon for a rotten tomato? What would be better received? My dad has this expression.., "Two wrongs don't make a right"

Whatever you do, I wish you well.

You are an angry black person that is itching for a fight. You are looking for reasons to be offended. Anyone who says anything you don't like is obviously a racist. You are sooo thin skinned you are transparent.

You do not fight authority abusing racist management. If you are really that intellegent (you claim to hold a masters degree) you would know that you use their own rules against them.

You are so wrapped up in your own rightous indignation that you are a racist in your own right. You are looking for white people to commit some wrong act to you. You judge people by the color of their skin before you see what kind of people they are. You are a bigot.

I am not sure how to handle that, but I would assume that a call to operation PUSH in Chicago could get you a good answer. I dont care who does it, your education level, position or anything, bottom line is that it is wrong and inexcusable. You just keep doing your thing. My favorite quote... "Living Well Is The Best Revenge"...words to live by! Best of luck to you (oh yeah, and go to law school, you could be making a huge difference out there!)

I would say that you should contact your local labor board and file a complaint. But for most complaits to get resolved, the board would probably tell you to go to your boss, then the boss above that one, and so on and so on until you run out of higher ups to speak with. If you do that and nothing is done, then you can file a complaint and get an attorney.

Get documentation. Right down what happened with dates, have other sign. CALL A LAWYER!!!

You can sue if race (or age or gender...) were a factor in:
Not getting promoted
Not getting paid fairly (Most women still make 75% in the same job as a man).
A Hostile work place. (N-word, treating you racially)

But if it is going to be your word vs. theirs, the jury is probably going to decide in favor of your employer. GET IT DOCUMENTED. Even if it is just writing down the dates on paper and sending it into your boss' boss. IF they fail to act on your complaint, you definitely have a law suit.

Well I would have first said I don't care about your position or who you think you are...never speak to me like that....
I am not a you people, I have a name. I would have turned my back on them and walked away. That says tons to the respect they don't have and will not have. Its not all about suing....trust me you will have endless months of anguish.....OR record them
get it on tape......your not suing them...your suing the government, they will be terminated.....then you will be taking tax payer money.
From the same hard workers such as your self.

i dont think racism is as big as you think it is. if a person makes lots of race jokes, tell them to cut it out. if it continues, tell a boss. and you can sue for verbal harassment, but that is usually for very big cases.
