A standard, average four cylinder engine will only need one injector for each cylinder and it would be situated in the intake manifold very near the intake port. Hence the title "Port EFI" (port electronic fuel injection). There would be a total of four.

Now if you soup that little four cylinder up and turbo charge, it four injectors might not be able to keep up with the engine. In which case it might be enough to add just one extra injector anywhere in the intake stream or to design the intake manifold with one extra injector at each port. Some motorcycles use two injectors at each port to deliver good fuel mileage at normal driving and extra power during wide open running.

But for the average engine, one injector per cylinder, one per port. Your engine would only need four....

There would be 4. Fuel is injected right into the intake port, so in 99% of the cases, there would be 1 per cylinder.

If it is multiport injection, 4.
If it is just EFI, 1.
EFI is generally a glorified carb.
