i only use swim caps for meets which is about once a month or once every two months. i swim 4 days a week every week. my hair was jet black. without the swimcap, my hair is now a streaked brown when combed and copper/yellow when i wake up in the morning. it is brittle too, so it falls out everywhere. if you don't have a swim cap, buy chlorine removing shampoo. it helps

I swam year round from the age of 5 to18, I lived in the swimming pool. My hair got damaged even though most of the time I wore a cap. I have blonde hair and it never turned green, either did some of my friends who were also blonde- but some did. Just make sure you use a good shampoo for swimmers and condition it really well and often.

I swim everyday except weekends and I have too wear a cap. There is a guy on my swim team who doesn't wear one. Lately, his hair turned partly green and started falling out. Try wearing one. At first, it's really tight and can give you headaches. When that happens, take it off and try again tomorrow. Before you know it, you'll get used to it. If your hair turns green, wait for your hair to grow out and then trim of the green part. Use special shampoo!!!

It depends on how much chlorine is added to the pool. If there are high levels, its very possible that it could damage your hair without a swim cap.

It will bleach your hair, which will be the most visible thing. Also your hair will become very dry and brittle. While I've found that chlorine removing shampoos help to a degree, you'll still have some bleaching and drying.

Yes it's pretty hard on your hair. Put a dab of conditioner in your hair before you put the cap on, that will protect your hair a little.

swimming pools are purified with chlorine which will bleach almost any thing if it is strong enough. it is also very corrosive metal will rust very quickly in a cl2 environment. that is one reason you should shower after swimming in a pool. a head and eyes need a good prophylactic or premature problems will surely appear.

It makes your hair dry and limp, knotted, turn greenish/grayish, stiff, and just look really bad... but if you comb it and use moisturizing conditioners right after you swim, you should be fine
