No, Christmas is sharing. I would be happy if somebody wished me a happy anything. It means they are in a good frame of mind too. It's what you believe that lifts your heart and soul.

I like the idea of a Holiday Season because there seems to be a special feeling in the air between Thanksgiving and New Year's Day. Christmas is a special day - THE special day for Christians but is not the only holiday being celebrated. While "Happy Holidays" is more inclusive, I use it for other reasons. I worked in retail for many years. People get nuts on the day after Thanksgiving but then most calm down and are just jolly getting ready for Christmas or whatever. I feel silly wishing someone a "Merry Christmas" on December 3rd but I still want to acknowledge the different feeling that is in the air - "Happy Holidays" works!

Christmas is Christmas. Different people celebrate different holidays for different reasons whether it is part of their religion or culture. Would I find it offensive if someone told me Happy Holidays? No, I wouldn't. My response woud be which holiday? Just because several holidays are celebrated during this time frame doesn't mean they are all celebrated at once. My usual response is Merry Christmas. The problem with society today is that people get overly offensive to everything regarding religion. People are so afraid of offending people that they put their own beliefs on hold. People of one religion get offended by people putting down their prophet, but Christians should stand back and let people put Jesus down? When are Christians allowed to get offended? So, Merry Christmas, M e r r y C h r i s t m a s, MERRY CHRISTMAS,
M E R R Y C H R I S T M A S!!!

I don't care.
Christmas Season and Holiday Season have ALWAYS existed side-by-side with no trouble until idiots like Bill Oh Really decided to get uptight about it.
Celebrate what you what, how you want--stop turning such a non-issue into a federal case. Life's too short!
edit: that last part is not aimed at anyone in particular, btw.
Merry Xmas and Happy Holidays to everyone!

I think it is called the Holiday season because we now live in a society where if you call it Christmas you have offended someone and they can sue you. Just like my kids can't have a halloween party because celebrating Halloween means practicing witchcraft. In Georgia my sons kindergarten teacher carved a pumpkin for her classroom and got fired for witchcraft. It is so sad that people are so desperate to sue someone they will go to any lengths to find something they can consider offensive or discriminating. Because there are other religious holidays other than Christmas it is now Happy Holidays and not Merry Christmas.

"Holiday Season" is not divisive, but it wasn't "changed" so as not to offend anyone--it includes Thanksgiving, Christmas & the New Year. Do you have a problem with that? "...what you really feel..." is the important thing. & WHATEVER one feels is fine with me! Cheers!
Edit: My, my. Another Gringe. dragonfla...those rotten capitalists hold a gun to our heads & FORCE us to spend our hard earned money! & here I thought you had "free will." As for the government, LOTS of holidays are observed that have nothing to do with Christianity. Why is Christmas bringing out so much anger? Chill out, take a Valium, have a drink, spread your lips & pretend to smile. Smiling is good for you.

I found it disgusting enough that the capitalistic merchants decided to try and steal our hard earned money by making Christmas all about buying expensive crap.
Then they had to go and take a very minor Jewish holiday, and make THAT all about buying expensive crap.
Now the black community has tried to get in on it with Kwanzaa. Not trying to be offensive and say they should be denied a holiday, but trying to celebrate one African heritage is impossible. There were hundreds of tribes in Africa, all with different legends and traditions. And whoever decided it should be at Christmas time was obviously trying to usurp the importance of Christmas itself. How long until the greedy merchants try to take over Kwanzaa?
Christmas is a Christian holiday. In this country, any one who has chosen to reject Christ has the right to NOT have Christmas forced upon them. As it is religious, government should not be celebrating it, but the Federal Government closes and public schools close, usually for a whole week! That should not be the case.

I care...the "reason for the season"...in my opinion, should not be changed....there are no other celebration that I can think of that have changed to become all inclusive....If you want to have a Holiday season...Winter Festival...."The Month between November and January Ho Down"...then fine, have it...just don't belittle my reason for celebrating Christmas by saying any sort of celebratory name for it will do...
