Why does my heater work sometimes and then turn around the next day and it doesen't produce heat? My Chy dealer said there ar flaps behind the fire wall before the heater core.Just don't make ***** sence.Thanks.

It could be the heater control valve is getting corroded inside making it harder to open and shut when the vacuum is applied.

All the above could be true. However, my '89 Dodge Diplomat experienced the same problem - twice. The automatic temperature control module (as opposed to manual temperature control) became unreliable causing the heater door to stay open. A/C always worked. This module is located under the dash on top of the heater/A/C housing. Although it is not exactly easy to change, it is certainly easier than removing the entire heater/A/C housing - much easier.

Could be the heater valve, a leaking vacuum hose, or a faulty air diverting flapper door, INSIDE of the heater-a/c housing under the dash.
