No, it is not naive to love you enemies, in fact, it is a principle of the Christian religion. By loving your enemies, it means that you don't wish anything bad on them. It doesn't necessarily mean that you like or trust them. You are just required wish them well.

The command to love your enemies is not naive. It is referring to the personal life of Christians.
Applying it to matters of diplomacy for your government to follow is not only naive, it is an improper understanding of Scripture, which clearly gives authority to government.

don't you love how the party of morals either has no clue what Jesus said, or thinks he is naive?
perhaps the Christian right should read the Bible a little more, and brandish it a little less...
and to love someone, doesn't mean you let them hurt you... yes, we should love our enemies, but we must defend ourselves...
I think it's most needed in matters of diplomacy... I think Jesus would have been a fantastic diplomat...
tough love is still love....
conservatives shouldn't rationalize the words of Jesus...
you defend yourself from someone with a gun by having a gun yourself and calling in airstrikes? is it really that difficult? are you saying Christians aren't allowed to defend themselves?

It's naive to think your country should lay down it's arms before other countries do the same.
G---don't recall Jesus ever holstering a side-arm.
You sure that's all part of loving.
How do you defend yourself against a gun.
Scream?
Do you bother to read what you write?
IRAQUISAX---You "love" people you don't like or trust???

It's one of the basic rules of Christianity and I struggle with it every day.
Jesus can do that,I can't,wouldn't call it naive it's the perfection of Jesus.I fail at it miserably.
It's so beautiful yet so unreachable

Not only naive but dangerous and foolish. Madam halfbright who says you make peace with your enemies....that's pretty stupid.
You make peace with your friends you upset..Your enemy is coming to kill you.....regardless of what you do......iran syria, same as Nazi Germany. The idiot in south America chavez...whatever same guy......
Why do liberals fly to meet with our enemies....against our own country. Ted K did it....J kerry did it...and recently some liberal congressman....they meet with our enemies...and pass laws to take away our right to defend ourselves....and you keep electing them.......
