My boyfriend claims that a shot of vodka with pepper will help with a runny nose. Has anyone ever heard of this? Is there any truth to this at all?

I have never heard of that. But, if it does work let me know. A solution that includes alcohol, seems like more fun than medicine.

I suppose anything hot/spicy will give the same effect. I drink hot tomato juice with cayenne pepper and have a tissue nearby. It will clear the sinuses.

Like most cold meds... you'll still be sick, but you just won't care as much.

Look at the alcohol content of Nyquil -- It's roughly 85 proof in its original form!
