The freezer part of my fridge/freezer combo died today, does that mean my fridge is dead, too?

yes there is only one cooling circuit. Basically what happens is your stat controls the freezer temp. The fridge stat opens a door and alloys cold air from the freezer to migrate to the fridge part. So if the system breaks down most people see the freezer half as the first to go. Only because the temp is easily noticed.
